Upcoming Dates & Events
SCC Campus Laboratory Visit
Foundations of Biology, Fall 2026 has planned laboratory activities hosted at Somerset Community College and facilitated by Justin. These visits will give students access to laboratory space, equipment, and hands-on biology activities that are difficult to reproduce in a typical home setting.
When: To be determined. Dates and times will be finalized once facility, insurance, and legal review is complete.
Location: Somerset Community College, Meece Building, Somerset Campus
Current Status
No action is required from families at this time. I anticipate having the remaining facility, insurance, and legal review cleared and ready for families within the next one to two weeks. At that point, I expect to ask participating families to complete the required online forms, and I will continue to post updates here as details are finalized.
What to Expect
Parents or guardians will drop their student off at Somerset Community College and return to pick them up at the scheduled time. Students should expect each campus laboratory visit to last approximately 2 to 2½ hours.
Family Forms
Justin will notify families when it is time to complete any required consent forms. These will typically include:
- Parent or guardian consent to participate and emergency medical authorization
- Insurance-related information or acknowledgment
- Photo/media release
The forms are expected to be available online and should require only a couple of minutes to complete.
Planned Laboratory Activities
The current laboratory plan includes activities such as:
- Lab Safety and Orientation
- Microscopy Labs
- DNA Extraction
- Cell Staining
- Biological Molecule Testing
This list is a working instructional plan. Activities may be modified, substituted, expanded, or omitted by the instructor based on student progress, available equipment and materials, safety considerations, facility requirements, and instructional value. Only activities appropriate for an approved laboratory visit will be conducted.
Questions or Concerns?
Please contact me first rather than contacting the college directly so I can coordinate questions through the appropriate campus offices. Contact Justin.
